Die Damenindische Verteidigung ist eine wichtige und
beliebte Eröffnung auf jedem Spielniveau. Die flexible Stellung des
Schwarzen erlaubt es ihm, zwischen einer Reihe solider und dynamischer
Strukturen zu wählen. Weiß wiederum kann flexibel reagieren, indem
er sich entweder dem Fianchetto des Schwarzen entgegenstellt, oder versucht,
durch ein Handgemenge im Zentrum das Tempo zu beschleunigen. Es ist eine
Eröffnung mit vielen Feinheiten, und viele der modernen Hauptvarianten
beinhalten Züge, die extravagant aussehen, aber von einer tiefen
grundlegenden Logik untermauert werden.
Peter Wells ist ein englischer Großmeister, der
regelmäßig an internationalen Turnieren teilnimmt und in mehreren
nationalen Ligen spielt. Er war zweiter in der Britischen Meisterschaft in den
Jahren 1991 und 1999 und qualifizierte sich für die Fide
K.o.-Weltmeisterschaft im Jahre 1997. Wells hat ausgiebige Werke sowohl
über Eröffnungen als auch über Mittelspielstrategie verfasst und
ist ein äußerst erfahrener Trainer.
